The flesh of the wahoo is white to grey, delicate to dense, and highly regarded by many gourmets. The taste has been said to be similar to mackerel. This has created some demand for the wahoo as a premium-priced commercial food fish In many areas of its range, such as Hawaii, Bermuda and many parts of the Caribbean, local demand for wahoo is met by artisanal commercial fishermen, who take them primarily by trolling as well as by recreational sports fishermen who sell their catch.
In most parts of its range, the wahoo is a highly prized sport fishing catch. It reaches a good size, is often available not too far from land, and is a very good fighter on light to medium tackle. It is known in sports fishing circles for the speed and strength of its first run. The aggressive habits and razor-sharp teeth of the wahoo can be of considerable annoyance when targeting larger gamefish, however, such as tuna or marlin.

If you are a fan of the show, you know he has been known to wear a swim brief, so you can imagine how excited he was when he saw our sister company, Weekender with all those briefs.
A great weekend in the Andros Islands and with so many bonefish caught on a fly. Everyone stayed sun-protected, cool & dry with Hook & Tackle's Wicked Dry & Cool hi-performance fishing shirts.

Hook & Tackle helps out by heading to Sugar Loaf Elementary School in the Florida Keys with the Miami Dolphins Foundation by donating 150 gifts to students who are victims of Hurricane Irma. Many of them are still living in tents and or trailers in front of their homes.
"It was a great feeling to watch these children faces light up, especially when we introduced the Miami Dolphins Cheerleaders!" says Stan Rudman, an owner of Hook & Tackle.
It was a great day. Feels so good to do good!
Last week we took a trip to visit the Florida Keys & Key West. As you drive down overseas highway and pass the 7 mile bridge, you tend to see the reminders of what Irma left in her path.
There is still so much to clean up, however, it is much better than it originally was just after the storm.
Key West is back in business with Duval Street getting busy, stores, restaurants, bars are all making their way back. The Cruise ships are also back in business. The one thing that will never change in Key West are their sunsets at Mallory Square.
Come down and visit paradise! Make sure to pack your favorite Hook & Tackle shirt!
